OUR STORY
Team Chemist, LLC is a collaboration among three partners:
Nabeel Ahmad, Peter
Robert Casey,
and David
Guralnick. All three share a lifelong love of
basketball and, in a coincidence that brought
about the formation of the company, a connection to Columbia University
in New York.
The NBA Team Chemist product is the culmination of five years of
concepting, design, debates,
observations, and research. It began with a series of
discussions held by Team Chemist, LLC
cofounder David Guralnick, whose background is in the design and use of
technology for learning
and job performance purposes, with a colleague of his about what "team
chemistry" really meant
and how to better define it--leading to how we could help NBA front
offices in their quest to build a
championship team.
These conversations led David to design a demonstration version of the
product; David later
shared this demo with Nabeel, his colleague at
Columbia University, where both David and Nabeel
serve as Adjunct Faculty in the area of online
learning and software usability. Nabeel then
brought in Peter, also at Columbia at the time. Peter is a
basketball journalist with a strong social
media
background and the distinction of being the first media-credentialed
microblogger in
college basketball history.
David, Peter, and Nabeel formed Team Chemist, LLC in early 2010. Their
current titles with the
company are:
David Guralnick, Chief of Product Development
Peter Robert Casey, Chief of Communications
Nabeel Ahmad, Chief of Strategy
